Mia

Walking through the mall, my mom asked me what I would like for Christmas. I told her I just wanted one thing, a photograph of her with Santa. Mia was always up for an adventure and it didn't take much persuasion to find ourselves standing in a line made up mostly of children. Mrs. Claus must have been out of town that day because Santa put his game on with my Mom. I cherish that moment. She felt alive, she felt pretty, and she was full of joy. She left this world as we know it in 2004. Today she would have been 88. Her favorite gift would have been the Godiva Chocolates. "I am still here," she would say about her birthday. She is indeed, still here.
