I was driving on the highway, heading into Oklahoma City. Ominous clouds quickly formed, making the late afternoon sun's rays frail and impotent. The wind attempted to push my SUV off course. Dust filled rain drops began clumping on the windows, like dirty honey. Visibility dangerously shortened, I cautiously pulled off the highway. Indistinguishable wet debris passed horizontally by the windows as the SUV became something like a house paint can shaker. Imagine being on an intense roller coaster that is lasting so long your sensory systems shut down and all you experience is just sitting there. The adrenaline rush comes when it is over and you know you survived. The remaining drive into Oklahoma was an obstacle course, littered with tree limbs, parts of I don't know what, and an over turned 18-wheeler.  Somehow it felt peaceful and made surreal by the odd light. That evening I slept well in a bad motel.
