I can't sleep. I have these paintings in my head that will not stop screaming whispers. My creative fever is battling my cold/flu fever in an unholy war. A Jenga tower of projects have already populated this year's calendar. The only thing that calms me is gratitude.
8:23 PM MOUNTAIN TIME
The night sky is bright with the light of the Full Moon. This Full Moon is in the fiery sign of Aries at 23 degrees, 14 minutes. This Full Moon is also a Super Moon, meaning it is closer to the Earth in its orbit, looming larger and brighter than other Full Moons. Super Moons increase the lunar pull on the tides, and can have a stronger impact on us. Just the intensity and beauty of such a bright light, lures us in….and causes us to feel….
The Sun is always in the opposite sign during a Full Moon. This powerful polarity creates an awareness and tension between the different needs and expressions of these two luminaries, as well as an opportunity to create balance through the honoring and integration of these two energies. This opposition occurs between the Sun in Libra and Moon in Aries, and sets up the dynamic of I vs We. The needs and desires of one, vs. the needs and desires of the relationship.
Aries is a fire sign that is ruled by Mars and is the first sign of the zodiac. Aries is here to learn about the various avenues of conflict, as well as the consequences. Aries seeks and finds courage through wrestling with fears. Aries is independent, brash, assertive, and passionate.
Libra is an air sign that is ruled by Venus and has a natural orientation to others. Libra is here to learn about relationships, and interdependency. Libra seeks peace through connecting to beauty, living in awareness, trusting in and expressing honestly, and finding personal balance.
Aries is the Warrior and can act on a moment, Libra is the Peacemaker and needs to weigh out the options. You can see the dramatic difference and the particular issues that can arise with this energy, and in particular during an intense Full Moon.
This Full Moon arrives with an extra astrological charge. The recently discovered dwarf planet, Eris (prounounced EE-ris), as well as Uranus, both in the sign of Aries are in a very close conjunction with this Full Moon. These two planets both bring strong energy. A drive, a push to do better in our lives and in a different way than we’ve done before; and a strong need to continue the process of individuation. We are all in our in our own way, learning to be more of who we really are. Change of some sort is strongly indicated. The recent eclipses brought inner and outer shifts and the effects can continue for a few months. This has brought the message of compassionate clearing and release of what no longer serves us, providing the space for necessary shifts within our individual lives, as well as the collective.
This can be a very good time to complete a project, get clear within yourself about a pressing issue, or share your feelings with another. Do recognize the value of balance, as you face internal fears and struggles that may be holding you back, and that are now asking to be dealt with. The Full Moon is speaking to you. There is a message in this Moon for us all, and it is tailored to each of us through our personal birthchart. For many this can be a time of liberation, strong motivation, decision making, and activation. Utilizing both Libra, by weighing out options and Aries, to take appropriate action, can help you to navigate and get the most of the best benefit, out of this powerful Full Moon.
